After the release of 6th edition it seemed that the codexes were releasing at a somewhat reasonable speed with decent model support. I didn't care for the sudden influx of fighters, bombers, and walkers. I mean if I want giant robots and aircraft, I will play a game that is at the 6, 10, or 15mm scale like BattleTech, DropZone Commander, or Flames of War. If I want 28mm with "big stompy robots" I have Warmachine for that. If I want 28mm infantry and tank combat..... I play 40K. Or I used to. Then the codexes started releasing. More air units, more flying stuff, more giant stompy robots......
I guess that I am rambling but there is a point behind it though. I think Games Workshop has one of 2 issues and no one seems to want to address it. Either Games Workshop is looking to artificially drive their stock prices up for the prospect of a large sell off at the top, or, they are in a Death Spiral and are trying to rake in as much cash as they can before some kind of very bad news comes to the forefront.
Im personally inclined to think that it is the second of the two given the fact that due to the bad economy, the number of companies nipping at their profit margin, and the sudden crack down on the bits industry to force the purchase of more kits to make certain unit configurations, that GW has some kind of troubles and it will hit like a ton of bricks.
Anyway, thats my two cents.
